Wi-Charge Wins a 2019 Edison Award for its Long-Range Wireless Power Innovations05 April 2019
April 5, 2019 – Wi-Charge, the leader in long-range wireless power, won Silver in the consumer goods category of the 2019 Edison Awards. The Edison Awards reflect their namesake, Thomas Alva Edison, as they honor innovative products, services and business leaders worldwide. The winners of these awards were announced on April 4, 2019, in New York City.
Wi-Charge was recognized by the Edison Awards Steering Committee for their excellence in developing innovative yet safe long-range wireless charging solutions. Wi-Charge has successfully demonstrated this technology at CES and SXSW 2019 with the world’s first wirelessly powered smart lock, earned notable industry awards for its Amazon Echo Dot and Google Home Mini wireless power kits and more.
This is the only market-ready, long-range wireless charging solution that safely delivers meaningful power to smart devices at room-sized distances while meeting all global regulatory and safety requirements. This feat is made possible through Wi-Charge’s patented power transmitter, which uses natural infrared (IR) light to locate small IR receivers embedded in consumer and smart devices, sending a directed beam of light to them to ensure the delivery of safe power to devices and nothing else.
“We are humbled by this honor. Some 140 years ago, Thomas Edison harnessed electricity to deliver light. Today, Wi-Charge is harnessing light to deliver electricity,” said Yuval Boger, CMO at Wi-Charge. “Delivering meaningful amounts of energy over the air and without wires has been a dream for more than 100 years, but we are now making it a reality. Light-based wireless power provides us with the third option of power delivery – freeing us from single-use batteries and restrictive power cords.”
