Wi-Charge Selected as a Finalist for the 2019 Edison Awards11 February 2019
Tel Aviv, ISRAEL, Feb. 11, 2019 – Wi-Charge, provider of long-range wireless power technology, has been named a finalist in the Consumer Goods category in the 2019 Edison Awards. The Edison Awards, named after Thomas Alva Edison, recognize and honor the world’s best in innovators and innovations. The Edison Awards will announce award winners at the annual Edison Awards held Thursday, April 4, 2019 in New York City.
Wi-Charge is the only company able to safely deliver enough wire-free power to charge phones and power smart devices at a distance. Using natural infrared light (IR), Wi-Charge’s patented power transmitter locates small IR receivers and sends a focused beam of light directly to it. The result: safe delivery of meaningful power to devices. The Wi-Charge technology, approved for consumer use by U.S. and international regulators, can fundamentally change how mobile and smart devices are powered, installed and used.
A device with a small embedded Wi-Charge power receiver can appear to charge itself, simply by having the device within sight of a complimentary power transmitter. No longer does your device require constant battery changes, cables or a charging pads, solving the biggest problem with today’s devices – restrictive power delivery options.
Long-range wireless power allows device manufacturers to imagine and build the next-generation of devices, from mobile to smart home and IoT devices, free from battery-imposed power limits or the need to be tethered to a power outlet. Imagine wire-free smart speakers or IoT sensors at home or in the business. With wireless power, these devices become easy to install, easy to move and are practically maintenance-free.
“Long-range wireless power has always been desired by consumer electronics companies and end-users. Just like wireless data – WiFi – revolutionized many devices, so will Wi-Charge wireless power,” said Yuval Boger, Chief Marketing Officer, Wi-Charge. “Wi-Charge’s long-range wireless power delivers the best of both worlds: the portability of battery powered devices combined with ample power to the device to incorporate a robust feature set. We are honored to be recognized by the Edison Awards committee.”
All nominations were reviewed by the Edison Awards Steering Committee and the final ballot sent to an independent judging panel. The judging panel was comprised of more than 3,000 professionals from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing and education, including professional organizations representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines.
