See the Future of Quick-Serve Restaurants at CES 2020: Charter House Innovations Showcases Tableside Ordering Powered by Wi-Charge’s Long-Range Wireless Charging Technology06 January 2020
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – January 6, 2020 – Wi-Charge, the leader in long-range wireless power, and Charter House Innovations, a designer and manufacturer of custom seating and décor will demonstrate the MagicBox, a new tableside ordering device concept, at CES 2020. The MagicBox, designed by CHi and powered by Wi-Charge, enables customers of quick-service restaurants to skip the line and order food directly from their table, while also charging their mobile devices.
According to Statista Research, there were 190,649 quick service restaurant franchises in the US in 2017, and their 2019 total revenue was $273 billion. Many restaurants are looking to capitalize on the demand for quick-service food by improving the customer experience and introducing products such as mobile ordering apps and in-store kiosks.
The “Magic Box” goes one step further and offers customers a new and convenient tableside ordering experience. With MagicBox, a customer can sit at their table and use the MagicBox QR code or NFC sensor to launch the restaurant ordering and payment app on their mobile phone. The NFC then locates the table for table delivery or alerting the customer that the order is ready. Once the order is ready, it can be delivered to the customer’s table or picked up at the service counter. The table MagicBox also provides an opportunity for the customer to charge their phone as well as for the restaurant to deliver promotional messages to a captive audience.
Wi-Charge’s long-range wireless charging technology is used to power the “MagicBox.” Instead of undertaking difficult or expensive construction projects to route power to stationary or mobile tables, power is delivered safely and efficiently from small transmitters that are installed in the ceiling. The MagicBox itself can be installed in minutes.
“Wireless power delivery is the missing piece that can make the MagicBox concept a reality in quick-service restaurants,” says Chuck Reid, President of Charter House Innovations. “We are particularly excited about the power, safety, and distance attributes of the Wi-Charge solution.”
“Wireless power from Wi-Charge has game-changing implications in numerous industries and enables new and exciting user experiences,” says Yuval Boger, Chief Marketing Officer of Wi-Charge. “We are very pleased to work with Charter House Innovations to provide them with a unique competitive advantage.”
