New technologies, such as self-checkout systems, dynamic displays, smart shopping carts and smart shelves that provide advanced inventory management capabilities, are all tools that can help retailers stay relevant and profitable in the era of online shopping.
However, with the onset of newer technologies within the retail environment, a challenge that one might not immediately think of is about to become front and center: How will all of these smart devices receive power in a way that is plentiful, flexible and safe? Power needs to be available wherever there’s an active display or smart device, and the primary options as of late — running power cords or using batteries — will no longer suffice.
