In-Vehicle Charging

There is an increasing need to power mobile devices inside the vehicle. Whether it’s the driver, the passenger sitting alongside the driver, or the kids in the back seat – everyone wants a charge.

Charging cables are not convenient and are also a safety risk. Charging pads require the phone to be neatly placed on them and limit the ability to use the phone.

Beyond mobile devices, sensors (such as back-seat seat-belt sensors) might also need to be powered, and wiring them is expensive.

Will in-car charging go the way of cup holders, where you have some vehicles with a dozen cup holders? Or is there a better way?

Wi-Charge potentially solves this issue. By installing a power transmitter in the vicinity of the dome light, power can be delivered without wires to several areas in the car. While this requires some fine-tuning, it’s an application worth exploring.
